Welcome to the DM Web Radio course, which is a part of the Distance Media program. It is about Internet Radio, and here follows a brief presentation of this course (the Course Objectives):

Streaming, pod- and on demand Radio
The strengths of merging media
Technical requirements for Web Radio
At the end of the course the student will be able to:
- Describe the main types of web radio (streaming, on-demand, and podcasting).
- Explain the main differences between web radio and traditional radio broadcasting, as well as between live vs. pre-recorded broadcasts.
- List some strengths of merging media
- Show awareness of the weaknesses of web radio
- Explain in brief the concept of narrowcasting
- Give some examples of how marketing web radio can be done
- Briefly describe the basic technical requirements for web radio
- Use software such as iTunes for "catching podcasts"
- Show some understanding of what voice tracking is, as well as music scheduling theory.
- show awareness of the need to check national regulations regarding web radio, as well as restrictions for broadcasting music.
- Display an understanding of what can be done in web radio (having seen and analyzed a number of examples of what others do).
- Find more information for further studies through various recommended resources.
