DM Planning & Scheduling

Welcome to the Planning & Scheduling for Radio course! Here follows a breif presentation of this course.

Major areas covered:

· The habits of the Radio audience

· Felt needs and real needs

· Planning of programme blocks/schedules

· The responsibilities of the broadcasting station – producing station/producer.

· Production co-ordination

At the end of the module the student will be able to:

* State the key steps in how to know the habits of an intended audience.

* State the difference between felt need and real need of a target group and give suggestions on how to meet the real needs via the felt needs.

* Make a programme schedule according to known habits, time zones, and competing stations at the intended target audience.

* State what responsibilities a broadcasting station has and what a producer and producing organisation has in radio programming.

* Explain the importance of good programme co-ordination, and give suggestions on how it may be done.
