Welcome to the DM Study Introduction course! This is the gateway course to the entire Distancemedia. net training programme. A brief presentation of this course is following below and by reading to the end of it you will gain all information needed to get started.

  • Distance Learning techniques
  • Communication strengths and weaknesses

At the end of the course the student will be able to:

  • reflect on different perspectives of learning, starting from the “acquisition model” and the “participation model”
  • describe the basics of the concept of Problem Based Learning, including the 7-step method for problem solving
  • describe the strength and weakness of written communication (text messages), in comparison with verbal/spoken communication
  • to discuss why people from different societies and cultures may have different understanding of the same word or idea.
  • use e-mail for text communication and sending files, Internet-WWW for chatting and searching for useful resources for specific training need
  • participate constructively in distance group work
  • describe the function and basics of constructive feedback
  • describe the framework and conditions for distance learning in the www.distancemedia.net/ programme.
  • make use the the basic functions of the online learning platform Moodle.

Focus of the course

To understand and make use of the basic functions of the Distancemedia(DM) online learning platform, develop a self driven learning practice as well as online group interaction, and to introduce basic media communication.
