DM Research

The Research process - from the idea to the reaction.

Welcome to the DM Reseach Course! Do you know why you want to do this course? Do you have an idea about Media Research? Well If it is not fully clear from the start I hope that it will become clearer along the way, and I am here to help you with that.

Here follows a brief presentation of this course.

Major areas covered:

    • The idea of research, its usefulness and its ethics
    • Basic research methods useful for media, including qualitative and quantitative perspectives.
    • Sources for media research
    • The process of research, from the need of research to action due to the research results.
    • Evaluation of research results.


At the end of the course the student will be able to:

  • Describe and discuss the usefulness of doing research in connection with media work.
  • State the important ethics in research including how to avoid bias.
  • Explain the usage and differences of basic research methods for media work
  • Design questionnaires for research purposes
  • Write a research proposal for an audience research, choosing the right methods and sequence for that particular research.
  • Conduct a minor audience research.
  • Present the evaluated research results in an accessible way so that action may be taken.
