Writing principles for Radio and TV scripts.

Welcome to the DM Writing for Media course! Here follows a brief presentation of this course.

Major areas covered:

  • Why use a manuscript
  • How to create interest for the programme (opening, keeping the listener hooked on, signposts, closing)
  • How to create images using words & sounds
  • Formats and mechanics of script writing
  • Right language according to programme format and target audience
  • Transitions, links, continuity

At the end of the course the student will be able:

  • to write a radio or TV script appropriate to the audience
  • to write a radio or TV programme using accurate, clear and engaging language
  • to research the subject appropriate to the medium and target audience
  • to write with descriptive picture language
  • to write exactly to fit in the time scale given
  • to write links for different elements in one programme, in order to have a good flow
