Writing principles for Radio and TV scripts.
Welcome to the DM Writing for Media course! Here follows a brief presentation of this course.
Major areas covered:
- Why use a manuscript
- How to create interest for the programme (opening, keeping the listener hooked on, signposts, closing)
- How to create images using words & sounds
- Formats and mechanics of script writing
- Right language according to programme format and target audience
- Transitions, links, continuity
At the end of the course the student will be able:
- to write a radio or TV script appropriate to the audience
- to write a radio or TV programme using accurate, clear and engaging language
- to research the subject appropriate to the medium and target audience
- to write with descriptive picture language
- to write exactly to fit in the time scale given
- to write links for different elements in one programme, in order to have a good flow
