Welcome to the DM Health and Sociology for media course! Here follows a breif presentation of this course.
Major areas covered:
- Introduction to the human body
The holistic view of the human being
Health issues in a cultural perspective
International conventions on human rights focusing children’s and women’s rights.
Family structure and gender roles in different cultures
At the end of the course the student will be able to:
- Reflect on what health means to people in the own culture.
- State the core content of the UN human rights conventions, including children’s and women’s rights
- Describe basically the different parts of the human body and its functions.
- Reflect on common health issues in the own culture compared to other cultures.
- Describe his/her own view of the human being in relation to the holistic view.
- Discuss pros and cons of different types of family structures.
- Describe the symptoms, spreading and possible treatment of HIV/AIDS.
- Reflect on how HIV/AIDS affects individuals and society and give suggestions on how to combat and how to care about the affected.
- Produce programmes on health, and social issues based on Christian ethics, human rights and a holistic view of the human being.
